The FBI should ban counterfeit sellers of Pablo Picasso, Keith Haring, Andy Warhol, Joan Miro, Marc Chagall from selling on eBay.
eBay takes the position "as an online marketplace, eBay isn't directly involved in transactions that take place between buyers and sellers."
"We're simply not in a position to authenticate items, or make any judgments regarding copyrights and trademarks on items offered for sale on eBay. For this reason, we rely heavily on our members to report problematic listings."
It is for that reason eBay is an art forger's dream. Unless eBay can implement a meaningful fraud protection policy, novice buyers should avoid any seller who refuses to provide legitimate business contact information, including a verifiable address and phone number.
